Kodi Addons Vs Builds
What’s the difference and what is better? So you’ve installed Kodi and naturally you want to access some content right? Your options are to either install individual add-ons to match your needs, which is easy enough but can be time-consuming. Especially if you don’t know what each offers.
The alternative is to install a build, what is a build some of you may be asking? In a nutshell its the same as the Operating system on your PC, That’s windows for most of us. Now imagine a new PC or laptop, notice how they come preconfigured with apps, games and software ready to use? Links and customization already present right? That’s pretty much what a custom Kodi build is. It’s a preconfigured and ready to go version of Kodi (sort of)
Not only do builds have add-ons embedded inside, saving you the time of searching and manually installing them all, but most builds have a custom UI (see images above). Now I will say that’s not always a good thing, its a matter of taste and preference, especially your keen on your current setup, but 99% of the time the custom UI is much better than the default Kodi version
So which one should you use?
There is no right answer here because you’ll need to experiment with a few to find what’s best for you. If you only intend to watch one select stream or perhaps only uses a couple of add-ons then stick with standard Kodi, want some unique and full of choice? then go for a build.
Want something unique and full of choice? then go for a build. I would look for builds that are maintained and updated regularly. Most of which have a dedicated website, support forum or a Facebook group. Ideally, choose one of those in case you have any questions or issues. For the sake of experimenting with builds, you’re going to be installing and re-installing Kodi until you find the right one, I would suggest using a windows PC as a test platform. This will greatly reduce the setup time between builds, due to PC’s being quicker!
